Selection Procedure

Applications are evaluated by a selection committee on the basis of their academic qualifications, English language proficiency, letter of intent, referral letters and relevant work experience. The selection committee will issue a ranked list of selected candidates based on strength/excellence and maximum score.  When the number of eligible applicants both for the funded and self funded categories, exceeds the number of places available, applicants shall be selected according to set criteria established by the competent board as follows: academic qualifications – 20%; work experience in the area or a related field – 20%; motivation, disposition and professional aptitude- 50%; references – 10%.  Selected applicants will need to present written evidence from their employer/work organisation on their claimed work experience.

In each academic year, each student will simultaneously register with each of the four degree awarding universities and will sign the undertakings relating to adherence to the relevant ordinances, rules and regulations of the four universities.

Candidates who fail to meet the minimum admission requirements are declared ineligible and their applications are not further reviewed by the selection committee.

When offered a place in EMJM FLOURISH, the selected students need to confirm their acceptance in writing. The Letter of Acceptance issued by University of Malta is required for obtaining the visa.

The selection of students, both EMJM and self-funded students, will seek to have a representative student edition from different regions and countries, in both partner and programme countries, with no more than 10% of the total number of scholarships awarded to candidates from the same nationality. Preference will be given to students coming from countries and regions where children’s healthy development is considered at risk due to socio-economic disadvantage and poverty, violence, civil-strife and forced displacement, child trafficking, and marginalisation and social exclusion amongst others

Appeal procedure

All applicants have the right to appeal against the selection decision. The appeal needs to be submitted within a period of 15 days from the day after the notification of the outcome of the selection. Appeals, including supporting information, may be sent via e-mail to the selection committee at [email protected]. The selection committee will respond to the appeal within one month after the reception of the appeal.

Selection Results

The rankings of accepted candidates will be published when all selected applicants have confirmed their participation. This is expected to be in the beginning of April 2024.
